Malouda to consider Fiorentina

Lyon star Florent Malouda would consider a summer transfer to Fiorentina, his agent has confirmed.

The French international has been linked with a Viola switch and Philippe Flavier is failing to rule out a Tuscan future for his client.“We are aware that Fiorentina are interested in him, although there hasn’t been any official contact between us,” Flavier stated.

But Malouda, a left-sided midfielder, is a wanted man and Fiorentina will face some peninsula interest if they do make a move for the player. Malouda, who was also associated with a switch to Juventus late last year, has scored seven Ligue 1 goals in 22 games so far this term.

The Frenchman is valued at something in between £6 and £9m. (channel4)

Roma - and Vincenzo Montella - are back on track, but it's crisis time for Parma. The Giallorossi win 4-0 away while Inter leaped to the top of the Serie A table, but showed more worrying signs as they nearly threw away a 4-0 lead in the final minutes!

Milan's 100 per cent record was ended at the Stadio Picchi, where Livorno held out for a 0-0 draw and rattled the crossbar with Stefano Morrone. It's their first Serie A draw since March 12 and Palermo's time at the top of the Serie A table was concluded by this unlucky defeat at the Castellani, but Franco Brienza must shoulder some of the blame after missing a penalty. 2-0 to Empoli.

Elsewhere Vincenzo Iaquinta's goal proved enough to sink Fiorentina at the Stadio Friuli and Sebastiano Siviglia scored against his former Atalanta teammates for Lazio's second straight win.

Livorno - Fiorentina 1-0

Livorno won the Tuscan derby with a Cristiano Lucarelli header and sent Fiorentina crashing to their second consecutive defeat.

Livorno had the better of the play overall and took the lead on 58 minutes. A Dario Passoni corner kick was floated in for the head of Cristiano Lucarelli, looping behind him into the far corner.

Fiorentina were left in 10 men for the final minutes, as Pasqual was booked for pushing Stefano Morrone and quickly shown a second yellow for taking his protests too far. Nonetheless, the Viola threatened an equaliser but Amelia was outstanding.

Esteban Cambiasso bagged a brace in Inter's 3-2 victory at Fiorentina, but they nearly threw it all away.

It was Inter who took the lead with a splendid team move. Maicon Douglas, Luis Figo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic spread the play quickly for Esteban Cambiasso to sweep in unmarked. Figo's chipped pass sailed over Crespo and Cambiasso was again left alone for a cushioned header at the back post. 0-2

The Swede Ibrahimovic got his goal too running on to a floated Cambiasso pass and hitting his shot into the ground to bounce past the goalkeeper. 3-0

Toni headed Mutu's cross past Frey despite tussling with Walter Samuel to put Fiorentina back in the running on 68 minutes. The Italian international's glancing header on Reginaldo's cross deposited the ball into the far bottom corner of the net and made it 3-2

TONI to stay VIOLA

Luca Toni has denied reports that he is reconsidering his decision to stay with Fiorentina.

Last season's Capocannoniere was repeatedly linked with a move away from Tuscany during the summer before announcing that he wouldn't be leaving. But now rumours are suggesting that Toni could still depart in the January transfer window.

"I thought this speculation had ended, but I now think there is someone in Florence who wants to make my relationship with the city more and more difficult," fumed the 29-year-old.

Fiorentina patron Andrea Della Valle warns he wants their 19-point Calciopoli penalty reduced to 10 in arbitration.

“We have never considered going to the TAR civil court tribunal,” insisted the businessman, but he pointed out that the meeting with the FIGC would not necessarily be the end of their legal battle.

“Now we’ll accept a verdict from the arbitration that’ll allow us to play a dignified season. With a 10-point penalty, we’d no longer be struggling to stay afloat.” The Viola were originally demoted to Serie B as a result of the Calciopoli scandal, but restored to the top flight with a 19-point handicap on appeal and stripped of their Champions League place.

Luca Toni took part and is now firmly back in the fans’ good books after changing his mind about a proposed move to Inter.

“Toni is a great man, like all of his teammates,” concluded Della Valle. “He knew we needed him and stayed to help out.”
